Grading & Report Cards
At Shadowbriar Elementary, student grades reflect mastery of academic standards as outlined by the HISD curriculum. Teachers use a variety of assessments—such as classwork, tests, projects, and observations—to measure student progress and understanding.
HISD follows a 6-week grading cycle. Students receive a progress report at the 3-week midpoint and a report card at the end of each 6-week period.
Grading Scale for Academic Subjects:
-
90–100: Excellent (A)
-
80–89: Satisfactory (B)
-
70–79: Approaching Grade Level(C/D)
-
Below 70: Needs Improvement (Failing)
In addition to academics, students receive conduct and effort grades that reflect behavior, participation, and work habits.
Families are encouraged to stay informed about their child’s progress by logging into HISD Connect, the district’s parent portal. Through Connect, you can view grades, attendance, and other important updates.
